Although Pikachu may be the most recognizable Pokémon, Eevee holds the title for the most popular and highly sought Pokémon in the series due to its sheer number of evolutions, known as “Eeveelutions.”
Eevee can evolve into eight different types of Pokémon, and the methods for getting each one varies from game to game.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to get every Eevee evolution as well as offer tips for catching and breeding Eevee for competitive battling.

Where To Catch Eevee
To find a wild Eevee, travel to Route 4 during day or night. Level 14-16 Eevee can be found in the tall yellow grass surrounding the area at a rate of 1% (Sword) and 5% (Shield). Due to Eevee’s low spawn rate, it may take a couple of tries before you encounter one in battle.
How To Evolve Eevee
Evolving Eevee into one of its many evolutions is relatively straight-forward. However, the steps you’ll need to take are different for each and typically involve using an evolution stone. Here, we’ll be breaking down the methods for obtaining every Eeveelution:
Vaporeon
Eevee evolves Vaporeon when exposed to a Water Stone starting at level 15. Vaporeon is a Water-type Pokémon with high HP and Sp. Atk and can have either Water Absorb or Hydration (Hidden) as its ability.
Jolteon
Eevee evolves into Jolteon when exposed to a Thunder Stone starting at level 15. Jolteon is an Electric-type Pokémon with high Sp. Atk and Speed and can have either Volt Absorb or Quick Feet (Hidden) as its ability.
Flareon
Eevee evolves into Flareon when exposed to a Fire Stone starting at level 15. Flareon is a Fire-type Pokémon with high Attack and Sp. Def and can have either Flash Fire or Guts (Hidden) as its ability.
Leafeon
Eevee evolves into Leafeon when exposed to a Leaf Stone starting at level 15. Leafeon is a Grass-type Pokémon with high Attack and Defense and can have either Leaf Guard or Chlorophyll (Hidden) as its ability.
Glaceon
Eevee evolves into Glaceon when exposed to an Ice Stone starting at level 15. Glaceon is an Ice-type Pokémon with high Defense and Sp. Atk and can have either Snow Cloak or Ice Body (Hidden) as its ability.
Espeon
Eevee evolves into Espeon upon leveling up with maximum Friendship during the daytime. Espeon is a Psychic-type Pokémon with high Sp. Atk and Speed and can have either Synchronize or Magic Bounce (Hidden) as its ability.
Umbreon
Eevee evolves into Umbreon upon leveling up with maximum Friendship during the nighttime. Umbreon is a Dark-type Pokémon with high Defense and Sp. Def and can have either Synchronize or Inner Focus (Hidden) as its ability.
Sylveon
Eevee evolves into Sylveon upon leveling up with maximum Friendship while knowing a Fairy-type move. Sylveon is a Fairy-type Pokémon with high Sp. Atk and Sp. Def and can have either Cute Charm or Pixilate (Hidden) as its ability.
How To Breed Eevee
If you’ve got your heart set on a shiny Eevee or want them to have a certain ability, move, or nature, your best bet to breed your own using the Pokémon Daycares located on Route 5 and in the Wild Area.
To do this, drop off your Eevee with another one belonging to the opposite gender or a Ditto and walk around until they make an egg. If either Pokémon has the desired nature you wish to pass on, have that one hold an Everstone prior to placing them in the Daycare.
Depending on which ability you want your Eeveelution to have, you’ll either want to use an Eevee with the ability Run Away/Adaptability or Anticipation (Hidden). Breeding with a Pokémon who has a hidden ability will increase your chances of passing that ability down.
